Montréalers Kate and Anna McGarrigle, who perform rarely and reluctantly outside their home turf, brought a hush with their exquisite "Talk to Me of Mendocino."

TV special and benefit for the Centaur Theatre. Taped live before an audience of 350 who paid $125 a ticket for dinner, champagne and the show. Also appearing were Irvin Layton, Peter Pringle, Gratien Gelinas, Margie Gillis, Ted Dykstra, Oliver Jones, Dave Broadfoot, Ranee Lee, the 22-piece Denny Christianson Big Band and host Don McGowan. A 48-minute edited version (no McGarrigles), Centaur Gala, was telecast on March 15 by CFCF-12.

Included were performances and interviews with Arlo Guthrie, Utah Phillips, David Amram, Rory Block and actor Spaulding Gray. Possibly rebroadcast February 3, 1991. The film includes performances of Heart Like a Wheel [alt] and (Talk to Me of) Mendocino.
